Upgrading the publishing process to a profitable cultural industry

The reality of the book industry in Syria and ways to advance its enlightening role and transform it into a cultural industry with a yield. Themes addressed by the researchers participating in the intellectual symposium held on the sidelines of the Syrian Book Fair.

The symposium hosted by Al-Assad National Library under the title “The Syrian Book and its Enlightenment Role,” during which researcher Iyad Morshed, Director General of the Library, stressed that the book is one of the most important sources of knowledge and one of the reasons for the progress of nations and develops thought, thinking and skills and works on building people and civilizations, considering that the enlightening role of the book and its importance in our lives are not From a cultural point of view only, but also from an economic point of view, given that the book and publishing industry receives attention and encouragement in all developed countries for its contribution to the national income and the advancement of man in thought, mind and behavior.

The researcher Al-Arqam Al-Zoubi gave an intervention on the importance of the book’s content in marketing it, indicating that this content is the most important factor in its spread or translation, especially since it started from an enlightening thought that touches the society’s need for it, especially in cases where the nation is at risk because the book remains, despite the developments taking place, one of the most important carriers of the Renaissance .

The media, Salam Al-Fadil, gave a speech by the Director General of the Syrian Book Authority, Dr. Thaer Zain Al-Din, who apologized for attending for health reasons that centered on the relationship between writers and people in the Arab world, which retreated from what it was in the eighties and nineties of the last century as a result of the prolonged invasion, wars, crises and targeting of the system Intellectual, cultural and educational, stressing the need to focus on the digital book industry to repair the gap between us and the countries that have made progress in this regard.

Ayman Ghazali, Director of Nineveh Publishing House, presented his vision in which he talked about the problems facing the publishing industry and the ambiguous relationship between the publisher and the author as the first problems of publishing and the problems facing distribution, considering that illiteracy that spreads due to wars in the Arab world is one of those problems in addition to the weak interest in reading, calling for accustoming Emerging on reading since childhood.
