On the occasion of the National Environment Day, the activities of the third (Last Summer Days) festival, which is organized by the Development Foundation for the Environment in Homs in cooperation with a number of economic and environmental activities in the governorate, were launched today on the grounds of the fairgrounds in the governorate of Homs.

The activities of the festival, which will continue until next Friday, included the opening of an environmental exhibition organized by the Foundation for the Development of the Environment in cooperation with the Homs Chamber of Commerce, with the participation of 37 civil and economic activities and development institutions, in addition to the launch of the work of the Foundation (Creators for a Homeland) in Homs.

The exhibition includes hundreds of pieces of handicrafts, environmental products from vermicompost, embroideries, accessories and rural industries from nature products, in addition to antiques and Samdiat from recycling various natural environment waste and some pets in their cages.

The speeches delivered during the opening of the festival indicated the need to preserve the environment by joining forces with all governmental and civil efforts, promoting environmental awareness and optimal investment of environmental resources, while the Balo Troupe presented a ballet performance for the children of the troupe.

In a statement to reporters, the Governor of Homs, Engineer Bassam Parsik, indicated that the celebration of the National Environment Day aims to promote awareness of the environment and preserve it healthy by investing all environmental components, recycling various materials and replacing with healthy environmental products instead of industrial ones, explaining that preserving the environment is everyone's responsibility and cooperation is required. All parties to avoid problems such as fires, excessive cutting and pollution, and to maintain a healthy environment.

In turn, Paul Kassis, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the Development of the Environment, pointed out that this year’s festival is characterized by the environmental exhibition that the Foundation holds in cooperation with the Homs Chamber of Commerce with the participation and support of economic activities and productive and civil institutions from small projects to NGOs, products for children with special needs and some companies specialized in alternative energies.

Dr. Bahjat Akroush, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation (Creators for a Homeland), pointed out the importance of launching the office of the Foundation (Creators for a Homeland) in Homs to achieve the goals of the Foundation in fostering excellence and creativity in the governorate, which is rich in its creative capabilities in all fields, pointing out that preparations are being made to establish a cultural tourism forum.
