Today, the Directorate of Agriculture in Lattakia began distributing the second batch of financial compensation to those affected by the fires that broke out in the governorate on October 9 and 10 last year, according to a timetable that includes the various regions of the governorate.

The Director of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Engineer Basem Doba, confirmed in a statement to SANA reporter during the distribution of compensation in the extension unit in al-Sanoub that a timetable has been prepared for the process of distributing the second batch of compensation, with all possible facilities being taken to hand it over to farmers in coordination with Lattakia Governorate.

He pointed out that the distribution will be in the affected villages themselves, and that the second batch includes distributing 25 percent of the value of the damages, after 50 percent of them were distributed last year, and that the third and final batch will be distributed next year.

Duba indicated that the total amount of damages during this payment amounted to about 6.405 billion Syrian pounds, benefiting 19,866 farmers in all areas of the governorate, expressing his hope that these compensations will contribute to supporting the agricultural production process, reinvesting agricultural lands as they were and mitigating the effects of these fires.

Director of the Agricultural Bank in Latakia, Engineer Milad Issa, indicated that the agricultural banks in all areas of the governorate are ready to pay compensation to the affected farmers. And 405 million and 886 thousand pounds.

And Issa indicated that today, the directorate’s delegates in the regions were handed over the full amounts required for the first day of distribution according to the targeted villages based on the program prepared by the Directorate of Agriculture, stressing that liquidity is available and there is full cooperation with the Central Bank in everything related to the disbursement of fire compensation without any delay.

For her part, the engineer, Rafah Salhab, certified in the Lattakia region in the Directorate of Agriculture, pointed out that according to the program prepared today for the Lattakia region, we have two distribution destinations in Shamiya Al-Mahalaba and Saqboin for about 100 farmers, according to the specified percentage of 25 percent of the value of compensation, indicating that the total amount of these two villages is about 33 million Syrian Pounds, about 21 million of them are in the village of Shamiya al-Mahalaba, and the rest are in Sqoubin.
