The nomination period for the Legislative Council entered its second day, and Di Zhiyuan, a new thinking, announced his candidacy for the social welfare sector of the Legislative Council.

Di Zhiyuan just got two nominations from each of the five major sectors of the Election Committee, all from the establishment, including businessman Sheng Zhiwen, and CPPCC member Jian Songnian. He described the process as arduous and some of the election committee members were introduced by friends.

He believes that it is three times more difficult for the other two prospective candidates in the New Territories to obtain nominations than him.

Di Zhiyuan pointed out that the lack of funding systems in the social welfare sector and the incomplete welfare planning have caused the morale of social workers to be low.

He hoped that the non-establishment parties would fight for more seats, so that the parliament would have a diverse voice. He believed that the unity of the non-establishment parties would be beneficial to the election, and emphasized that there is absolutely room for cooperation between everyone.

Ask Tan Yaozong to help introduce the selection committee

Di Zhiyuan said that at present the disadvantaged groups are not given the highest priority and most appropriate care and help. I don’t want to do great things when I run for the election. I only hope that "help one, get one." He mentioned that he has been engaged in social work. In 2009, I liked this job of helping people very much, so I was willing to be a "Big Dipper", hoping to guide others in the direction.

Di Zhiyuan’s election committee nominations include Sheng Zhiwen and Chen Ximing from the first sector. He described the former as friends for many years and willing to support non-organized people; the second sector includes the president of the University of Education Zhang Renliang and the democratic thinking Mai Qing Huan; The third sector includes Zhu Youqing of the AFL who has worked with Di Zhiyuan for many years, and Yi Jialian, vice chairman of the Executive Committee of Christian Literature and Art Publishing House; the fourth sector includes architect Li Hanxiong, and Hong Kong Youth Creative Director Lin Weiqiao;

The fifth sector has Jian Songnian, a lawyer who has known each other for many years, and Huang Ziwen, a member of the All-China Youth Federation.

He specifically mentioned that he didn't know much about the fourth sector, so he was introduced to the election committee by friends, including Tan Yaozong, a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

Hard to shake the DAB women

As for the two New Thinking party friends Cui Dingbang and Huang Junlang, Di Zhiyuan said that they are still fighting for the nomination of the election committee, saying that New Thinking is only a small political party. "The two brothers expect to have three times more difficulties than me."

Di Zhiyuan also pointed out that under the new political situation, it is difficult to roughly divide into the pan-democratic and the institutional factions, emphasizing new thinking, rationality and pragmatism, and confidence in gaining support.

As for the DAB district councillor Zhu Liling who also signed up to run for the social welfare sector, Ti Zhiyuan did not comment. He only said that the other party was a young social worker and hoped that the election would be a "gentlemen's and ladies' dispute."

When asked whether there is room for cooperation among other non-establishment factions, Di Zhiyuan emphasized that it is a good thing to have more non-establishment parties. He hopes to get more seats to make the parliament have a diverse voice. He also pointed out that the unity of the non-establishment factions is beneficial to the election. .

He believes that what the non-establishment factions have in common is that they put more emphasis on fighting for democracy and the rights and interests of the middle and lower classes, but emphasized that there are also spectrums among the non-establishment factions, and only emphasized that there is absolutely room for cooperation.
