After the white woman from the Ebersberg forest now “In the forest”.

A new horror thriller, which was filmed in the district of Ebersberg, celebrated its premiere.

Oberpframmern

- A detour leads a father and his daughter deep into a large forest area, where they discover a crashed and abandoned vehicle.

You try to call for help, but the cell phone network is on strike.

Shortly afterwards, her car breaks down unexpectedly.

When they hear a scream from the forest, they both become frightened.

So much for the beginning of the new horror thriller “Im Wald” by filmmaker Manuel Weiss, which recently premiered in northern Bavaria.

The approximately 80-minute film was shot mostly in a wooded area near Oberpframmern.

Filmmakers were recommended to Oberpframmern

The filmmaker from the east of Munich got the tip from a local who later also helped with the catering for the film shoot: “You don't drive blindly into a forest, but ask around to see where there are beautiful patches of forest and that's where she's got me then Oberpframmern was recommended right away, ”Weiss remembers.

On top of that, he had very good experiences with the community in the past when it came to filming permits: “They had a really great community job back then and I thought, I'll ask if it would be okay, in one of their woods to turn. "

Said and done.

Together with his film team - including the producer Oliver Mielke from the television series "Hubert ohne Staller" - Weiss spent several April nights in the forest.

The filming proceeded with mixed feelings: “It was night, it was cold, it was in the middle of the forest,” summarizes the filmmaker.

When a hunter met the film team and warned about wild boars, the crew got a little queasy, says the director: “From then on we thought: We’re not just making an exciting film, but also have the tension on the set.

In fact, we were spared. ”Because of a snow storm at the beginning of April, the film had to be re-shot on seven days in May.

But barely six months later, “Im Wald” celebrated its premiere.

Weiss is already very familiar with the Ebersberg district: he previously produced two seasons of the series “Ebersberg”, which is about the appearance of the white woman in the Ebersberg forest.

The third season is already under discussion

The name of the district town made genre aficionados of horror films all over Germany pricked up their ears: “What?

Is that the real Ebersberg from the series? ”According to Weiss, one or the other motorist on the way to vacation at the sight of the exit sign has enthusiastically expressed himself.

A third season of the series is already under discussion, but nothing has been finally decided, according to Weiss.

The success of the series gave the filmmaker new ideas: "Maybe I should let Ebersberg appear again and again as a kind of multiverse in my other projects," he said at the time.

That is why part of his new film "In the Forest" supposedly takes place in the Ebersberg police station - including the same police actor as in "Ebersberg".

The film can currently be viewed on the Hof Film Festival website for seven euros.

The filmmaker is currently in talks with cinemas and TV stations for further releases of the thriller.

There is currently no public premiere in the district, but: "I would give the approval at any time if someone is planning an open-air cinema in the Ebersberg district."

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.
