Some of the suspects are members of Rabbi Eliezer Berland's "Shuvu Banim" congregation.

A few months before the disappearance of Sheetrit, who was 17 at the time of the incident and whose body was never found, he was abducted from the yeshiva in Ashdod where he studied, and beaten by the chastity guard, who threatened him not to go out with girls he knew in his capital.

He later met a man named Mike, with whom he hung out for about a week, until his traces disappeared after a meeting the two held in central Jerusalem.

Police suspected that the man was a messenger of the chastity shift, who decided to kill him and hide his body, but he fled to the Netherlands the year Sheetrit disappeared.
