Dießen - “And the winner is… Bernhard Holzer!” The 22-year-old from Dießen dreams of this legendary sentence at the Academy Awards like any other filmmaker. On the dream road to Hollywood, his current short film “Collapsing Timelines” has already won three festivals in the “Best Science Fiction Film” category, including the “Thessaloniki Free Short Festival” internationally.

He also won first places at the “Berlin Indie Film Festival” and the Augsburg “Mabig Film Festival”. The “Collapsing Timelines” were nominated at the Turkish “Nicomedia International Film Awards Festival”. The special thing about the 6:20 minute short film: Holzer was not only the creative head of the film, but also played the leading role as a double time traveler. Among other things, he was responsible for the script, direction, editing, music and production. With the prizes and a lot of encouraging approval behind him, the man from Dießen is now planning his next feature-length project.

Bernhard Holzer grew up in Dießen, went to the Carl-Orff-Grundschule, the Ammersee-Gymnasium, the Realschule Schondorf and finally graduated from the FOS. With a heavy heart, he broke off his training as a "media designer for image and sound" at the adhesive giant DELO in Windach because he preferred to creatively realize his own ideas instead of sober industrial films. He did that as a twelve-year-old rascal. He cheekily marched into the town hall office to the then mayor Herbert Kirsch and asked for a grant for a film that he wanted to shoot with mom's video camera. Kirsch gave him 200 euros for so much chutzpah and Bernhard made his first real film with friends. In the Dießen Kinowelt there was even an acclaimed special screening for the film clique.

Spurred on by the politicians' doorstep election campaign, Bernhard Holzer later rang the doorbell at Starnberg's front doors and courageously asked for money “for my next film project”.

Many were so amazed that they pulled out their wallets.

After three short films, the breakthrough came with “Collapsing Timelines”.

Motivated by his friend Heidi, Bernhard bought professional equipment and found colleagues for the implementation.

All scenes were shot in Dießen.

The next project

Bernhard Holzer is currently working on the script for a feature-length film that is outlined as an “inspiring drama with an ultimately positive message”.

The protagonist experiences a so-called "lucid dream".

It is consciously experienced, steered and controlled by the sleeper.

Of course, in addition to anxiety disorders and panic attacks, there is also a lot of action with fight scenes.

The topic is not by chance, but also from Bernhard's zodiac sign Pisces with Cancer ascendant.

Because that stands for creative fantasy and dream worlds with a special reference to the subconscious.

For this film, Bernhard Holzer is also looking for actors who primarily want to take part out of the joy of playing and not because of a high fee.

Because, as with all projects by talented but independent filmmakers, the whole thing depends on the financing.

Bernhard Holzer still doesn't earn anything with his films and his daily bread comes from image and product videos that he shoots for trade and industry.

That is why he is looking for sponsors again and is also planning crowdfunding via an internet platform.
