Sports are no longer practiced in the Peitinger Schloßberghalle.

Nevertheless, in the past, the athletes from the market town met there once a year to be honored for their performance.

This tradition had to be broken this year because of the pandemic-related restrictions.

Peiting

- "We thought a lot about how we could do it, and then decided to do it in the triple hall," said Peiting's Mayor Peter Ostenrieder when welcoming the 17 individual athletes and seven teams who have recognized their outstanding achievements over the years 2019 to 2021.

"The athletes did not let the pandemic get them down," the town hall chief praised the active people who continued to pursue their passion despite the difficult circumstances.

"You made Peiting known nationally and internationally," added sports advisor Hermann Mödl, who helped Ostenrieder handing over the certificates and vouchers from the Schuster sports shop.

The mayor refrained from interviews with the winners, instead he presented the sporting successes of the winners in detail.

"Peiting is equipped with many different types of sport," said Ostenrieder, delighted about the broad cross-section of honorees with newcomers and old hands.

The latter includes Fritz Aigner, who has already won many awards: "The veteran of sport shooters", as the town hall chief called him, took sixth place at the German championships, among other things.

In addition to him, the first and second teams of the Peitinger Schützen were honored for their successes, with the former finishing third in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Luca Vent is one of the young successful athletes.

"His list of success reads like that of FC Bayern," said Ostenrieder with a smile when he looked at numerous titles from the TSV junior judoka.

With him, other judo athletes were allowed to receive the award.

Kick boxer Leon Gavanas received the award for the DM title.

The mountaineer Veronika Hoffmann (DAV team), Stefanie Strauss (DM in bench press) and all-round athlete Patrick Stork, who took several podium places in the track and field athletes, also showed strong performances.

Regular guests at the athletes' ceremony are the rock'n'roll dance duos Jule Kirchner and Paul Mattern as well as Tamina Berchtold and Tobias Thiele, who have again received awards.

Last winter, Nadine Kapfer (alpine skiing) and Korbinian Heiland (cross-country skiing) came to international honors, but both of them were excused.

Almost traditionally the largest group was made up of the pole athletes from TSV Peiting, who have won a number of titles in recent years.

“It is brilliant what they have achieved.

My request is now, keep up the good work ”, Ostenrieder concluded the one-hour ceremony.
