Two explosions shook the center of the Afghan capital Kabul near the military hospital.

In addition, according to eyewitnesses, shots should have been fired.

A spokesman for the militant Islamist Taliban, Bilal Karimi, first confirmed an explosion at the gates of the military hospital to the dpa news agency.

Local journalists said the explosion followed gunfire and another explosion.

According to Karimi, there is still no information on the type of attack.

The interior ministry spokesman wrote on Twitter that there were victims and that information about them would be shared later.

Special forces are on site, it said.

A cloud of smoke was seen in pictures on social media.

"We were told to go to the shelters"

A doctor at Sardar Mohammad Daud Chan Hospital told AFP that he was in the building and heard a violent explosion that came from the first checkpoint at the clinic.

He also heard gunshots.

So far, no one has confessed to the attack.

In mid-August, the Taliban took over military power in Afghanistan.

The army and police fell apart and government officials fled.

The Islamists proclaimed a government.

This is confronted with numerous problems.

This includes ensuring security in the country.

There are repeated attacks and attacks, especially on Fridays, houses of prayer are attacked by rival Islamist groups.

Most recently, the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS), which is hostile to the Taliban, claimed responsibility for attacks on two mosques with dozens of deaths.
