What was supposed to be a tribute show to the band "Abba" in Sweden became a tragedy even before the singers took the stage on Tuesday night when one of the audience - a man in his 80s - fell from the seventh floor of the hall.
He was killed by the fall, and in addition also caused the death of another man and the injury of a woman.
The incident took place shortly before the show was due to begin, when about 1,000 people crowded the Congress Hall in the city of Uppsala, which is north of the capital Stockholm.
According to local police it is still unclear why the older man fell to his death.
Following the incident, which brought an end to the festive evening even before the Swedish band's hits were played, the company that organized the event announced that "everyone is in shock".
Police have closed the compound to investigate the circumstances of the tragedy.
"Unfortunately a person fell or jumped and hit other people, we do not know any more details by the hour," the company said.
