Damascus-SANA
The Director of the General Authority of the Red Crescent Hospital in Damascus, Dr. Michael Salloum, stated that the occupancy rate of the intensive care beds in the hospital for Corona virus patients is currently one hundred percent, while the occupancy rate of the isolation beds is up to 90 percent.
Salloum explained in a statement to SANA’s delegate today that the number of hospital visitors daily with complaints of symptoms similar to the symptoms of infection with the virus ranges between 20 and 30 people, noting that the hospitalization period for the patient ranges from one to three weeks.
He stressed that the recovery rate of patients who were admitted to the hospital during the past month reached more than 90%, explaining that the delay in seeking medical care and treatment at home without consulting a specialist leads to the poor condition of the injured, especially hypoxia, raising the need to enter intensive care and increasing the duration of hospitalization.
The hospital’s capacity for Corona patients reaches 20 beds in the isolation department, 10 beds in intensive care, in addition to 5 competitors placed in service.
