The Tel Aviv District Court today (Wednesday) held a hearing of evidence in the trial against Amit Almog, who is accused of murdering Maya Vishniak, who was his partner.

Almog has admitted most of the facts of the indictment, which details how he strangled Vishniak to death and stabbed his mother when she tried to separate, but denies those concerning his mental state.

At the hearing, Almog's friends testified as part of the defense's attempt to substantiate the defense's claim of insanity.

"I did not encounter violence. I remember him as a non-aggressive person. He did not drink alcohol abnormally," his friend Eden Burer said in court.

However, he noted that "there were whole periods when he would not come to meetings or would not speak. He would have looked like a depressed person. We cared for him as friends."

The other witness, Tomer Gorluy, said that he had a very good time with her (Maya - SL).

He seemed happy and pleased with the relationship.

I knew he was in a bad time, but from my acquaintance with him I did not know that he was in a state of hurting himself.

In hindsight I realized they had to keep him.

But that's not talking I knew.

When I heard what happened I had a hard time believing.

I really did not expect him to hurt another person.

"" I know everything about him and he is about me.

He is not violent and does not raise a hand against anyone.

He is a more closed-minded person when he is angry, "said Michael Wonderplass, another member of Almog.

Further discussions in some of the evidence, Almog's family members, those who met him at the murder scene, police officers who recorded him and the scene with a body camera, and finally expert witnesses will testify. Who met the defendant while he was inside the walls of the IPS.

"Murder? Worth life imprisonment."

The murdered woman's father, Ariel Vishniak, appeared in court.

"Hard feelings. Despite the desire that it will end quickly, we are not in a hurry, that he will take as much as he takes until he receives the punishment he deserves - life imprisonment and not one day less," he clarified.

"It will be difficult and the road is long but in the end it will end. He was sane at the time of the act, period. People need to be educated into the equation: Murder? Worth life imprisonment."

According to the indictment, on May 16, Vishniak arrived at his apartment, and at one point he waited for his sister to come out to kill her.

Later, it was alleged, Almog asked Moishniak to lie on his side and he lay down next to her, with his back to her.

He gripped Vishniak's neck tightly with his arm, and in response to the sounds she made, he blocked her mouth with his hand.

These acts caused her death.

He then allegedly took a knife from the kitchen, put it in a drawer in the dresser in his room and waited for his mother to return to the apartment, with the intention of causing her stabbing to death.

When his mother arrived, he asked her if she wanted to see Vishniak asleep.

The mother went to the room and Coral followed her.

When they reached the doorstep, Almog grabbed his mother's neck, took the knife from the drawer and wounded her in the face and upper body.

As a result of his actions, the mother sustained superficial bruises and wounds to her upper body and face.

Later, Almog photographed Vishniak's body as well as himself, singing and scattering banknotes on the body.

He sent the photos to his friend via WhatsApp.
