Allershausen

- How exactly everything is going will be a surprise to those in charge at the premiere this year. You put it in the hands of those who take part: A lively Advent calendar is planned for the first time in Allershausen. The cultural council of the community of Allershausen welcomed the idea of their member Albert Gründel enthusiastically. Gründel has been collecting old doors and window frames for years. "Actually, they should become part of a pergola in my garden and be attached like pictures in a gallery, overgrown by climbing plants, slowly continue to tread the visible path of decay," explains the idea provider. "Actually, they should become part of a pergola in my garden and be attached like pictures in a gallery, overgrown by climbing plants, slowly continue to tread the visible path of decay," explains the idea provider. But now Gründel's collection has a different use for the time being: “We are designing an advent calendar in public space.” The old doors are now the little doors that are distributed throughout the municipality and behind which a new surprise for the children emerges every day Allershausen hides.

Albert Gründel knows about the long tradition of the Advent calendar, which has always fascinated him and which goes back to 1840.

“There used to be very different variations,” he says.

For example, that before Christmas Eve you could wipe away a chalk mark painted on a door every day.

Or else, a new candle was lit for each of these days.

“Very expensive for the time.” Gründel tells of a very beautiful custom of putting a straw into the crib every day “so that the Christ child lies softly after its birth”.

As different as the customs were, they all had the same meaning: It was supposed to increase the anticipation for Christmas and shorten the waiting time.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

After 1900, reports the initiator of the Allershausen advent calendar, there was then the printed version with small doors that could be opened, behind which small pictures with Christmas motifs were hidden.

Today there are no limits to the imagination and consumption: From small sweets and tea advent calendars to barbecue sauces and spices, there is nothing on the Advent calendar market that is not available.

What has been the custom in many families since that time, "we want to share this year with many citizens in Allershausen and so look forward to and prepare together for the feast of the birth of Jesus Christ."

And that is planned: On the 1st Sunday of Advent, November 28th, and after that from December 1st, a door will be opened in a different place on private property every day.

“Behind that there is a little surprise to take away.” What that will be is in the hands of those who shape the day in question.

The little doors can always be opened in the morning, except on Sundays: The organizers have come up with something special and, as an exception, you meet at a fixed time at 2.30 p.m.
