Another case of avian influenza occurred in a farm poultry population in Brandenburg.
The H5N1 pathogen was detected on Wednesday in a private poultry farm in Burg im Spreewald by the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI), as the Ministry of Consumer Protection confirmed on request.

Potsdam - The smallest facility with around 80 chickens and ducks is only around two kilometers away from the first case in a poultry population in the Spree-Neisse district.
This means that the protection zone within a three-kilometer radius of the affected company and an observation zone within a ten-kilometer radius have been slightly adapted, according to spokesman Dominik Lenz.
There are around 300 poultry farmers in the protection zone, from small businesses to large-scale plants.
They would now have to report their stocks and keep the animals exclusively in the barn for at least 30 days.
The general decree on the restricted areas applies from this Wednesday.
Lenz said no major killings would have to take place in the factory in Burg.
Most of the animals have already died.
It is strange that so far this season no case has been found in wild birds, but farm animals are directly affected.
"That is questionable," said Lenz.
The cause is still being investigated.
