The Israeli swimming team continued its appearances this morning (Wednesday) at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Kazan and recorded a number of nice achievements: an impressive Israeli record by Chris Pichogin, a semi-final qualifier by Sharon Steiman, another qualifier for the final of the Apostles Quartet and a variety of blue-and-white personal records.
Pichogin, 20, recorded the first Israeli record of his career in the 100-meter breaststroke, and did so with significant improvement.
He set 58.11, an improvement of more than half a second to Gal Nevo’s record, which has stood at 58.69 since 2014. Pichogin only needed two hundredths to complete a semi-final qualifying in the ointment, but he finished in 17th place in the calculation of 2 swimmers per state.
After a short rest, Pitchogin's friends David Gerchik, Dennis Lotkev and Adam Maraana joined the Quartet of Quadruplets for the 4x50 mixed.
The Israeli team set 1: 36.34 and qualified for the final from eighth place, when they are also only 39 hundredths away from the Israeli record set by Jonathan Kopalev, Yahav Shahaf, Guy Barnea and Ziv Klontrov in 2015.
Another swimmer who qualified for tonight's anointing is 16-year-old Sharon Steiman, who advanced to the semifinals in the 200 butterfly from 15th place with a personal best of 2: 13.72.

16-year-old Ofir Rakhah finished 17th in the 200 butterfly with 2: 18.80.
In the 50 free, Dennis Loktev set a 22.29 and finished 32, Adam Maraana with a personal best of 22.49 finished 37 and David Gerchik with his own personal best of 22.54 finished 39. Eitan Ben Sheetrit set a personal best in the 100 breaststroke with 1: 02.41 and finished 36, Daria Golobti with a personal best of 1: 02.29 in 100 personal mixed finished 29.
