In the midst of the crisis, the public hospital is faced with the ill-being of caregivers and, despite the salary increases of the “Ségur de la Santé” for health, the difficulty of retaining its nurses and nursing assistants. It is not much better on the side of future doctors: 67% of externs (from 4th to 6th year) and interns (from 7th to 12th year) presented a "burn-out" syndrome, 52% of anxiety symptoms, 25% have had to deal with a depressive episode over the past 12 months and 19% indicate having had suicidal ideation, according to a survey published last Wednesday by the Intersyndicale nationale des interns (ISNI), the union of interns in general medicine (Isnar-IMG) and the National Association of Medical Students of France (Anemf).
In short, little progress has been made since the report on the quality of life of health students by Dr. Donata Marra, commissioned by Agnès Buzyn four years ago, broke a taboo on the rate of suicides and burn-out.
