A German is stranded with his yacht and ten Syrian refugees on board on the French Mediterranean island of Corsica.
The boat, which apparently came from Turkey, was received by emergency services in the port of Porto-Vecchio in the south of the island after a breakdown on Wednesday night, reported the newspaper Corse Matin.
The Syrians are said to be members of a family, including a pregnant woman and two young children.
The Mayor of Porto-Vecchio thanked the relief services on Twitter for their commitment.
As the newspaper "Le Télégramme" reported with reference to the prefecture, the German stated that he had picked up the family in a Turkish port without any financial consideration.
The refugees are said to come from Aleppo, but allegedly have no papers with them.
The police initially gave no information about the identity of the German and his motives.
