We had been waiting for this for a year. Hordes of cameras, nudges, a happy and speechless author… This Wednesday, November 3, a scent of the old world blew in Place Gaillon. Enough to forget the videoconference edition of last year… or almost. At the Drouant restaurant, where it has been a tradition to announce the Goncourt Prize since 1914, the establishment was black with poles, dictaphones, big jackets… but also masks. If the proclamation could be done "as before the pandemic" on the steps of the staircase, by the voice of Philippe Claudel, new secretary general of the Goncourt academy, it was still necessary to respect some rules.
The instructions sent by email a few days before the event were very clear:
“To enter the restaurant, you must present your health pass before 12:15 pm and wear a mask.
Please keep the distances recommended by the health authorities as much as possible
