Memmingen - The "Alliance for Families" in Memmingen was founded in the spring of 2004 and connects almost 60 representatives from various facilities, institutions and initiatives at the regular meetings.
The city announced this in a press release.
“They are all united by the will to work together to make Memmingen even more family-friendly,” said alliance coordinator Claudia Fuchs, equal opportunities officer for the city of Memmingen.
The concerns of families are brought to the consciousness of responsible actors and the public is made aware of the issue.
In addition, the alliance is a constantly growing forum for existing initiatives and thus an important mouthpiece for families.
Family benefits as a partner
A strong partner is now on board in the form of the Family Fund Bayern Süd.
“Families and children are a guarantee for the present and the future.
There are 156 family and marriage-related benefits in Germany.
Networks create connections and thus help the families ”, informs the regional manager of the family benefits office Bayern Süd, Thomas Braun.
The child allowance is an additional financial support for working parents who earn enough for themselves, but for whom it is not or only barely enough to cover the entire needs of the family.
It works like a supplement to child benefit.
Since January 1, 2021, the child allowance has been up to 205 euros per child per month and, together with the child benefit, covers the needs of a child, according to the press release.
Those who receive the child allowance are also entitled to benefits for education and participation and are exempt from daycare fees.

But by no means all families or single parents with low incomes make their claim.
"We would therefore like to make the offers of Familienkasse Bayern Süd in Memmingen more transparent and encourage Memmingen families to apply for additional family benefits to which they are entitled," emphasizes Mayor and Alliance Chairman Manfred Schilder.

The Familienkasse Bayern Süd is the national contact for family policy benefits of the Federal Employment Agency.
She supports families with child benefit, child allowance and other financial aid.
With 900,000 customers and an annual payout volume of 4.1 billion euros, it is one of the largest regional family funds in Germany and processes over 1.1 million applications annually.
