Martin Englert now heads the Friends of Reutberg Monastery

The renovation of the church was the focus of the general meeting of the Friends' Association for Reutberg Monastery.

- Because of the pandemic, the outgoing chairman Gerald Ohlbaum looked back on the two years 2019 and 2020, according to a press release. Fortunately, the church restoration has started. The last renovation of the church was more than 60 years ago. According to Ohlbaum, from today's point of view of construction technology, not everything was done correctly from a technical point of view. When the damage was recorded, it turned out that in addition to the tower and church interior, the roof truss was in acute need of renovation. With the architect Hans-Jürgen Dennemarck, an accomplished construction specialist could be called in as a project manager. The measures were divided into three sections: The exterior tower renovation has been completed. In 2022 it will be the turn of the tower renovation inside and the roof structure of the church. The church interior will follow in 2023.According to the association's board of directors, the first two construction phases are financially secure and are supported by the ordinariate with 1.1 million euros (we reported). The financing for the third section in the church is currently being completed. In the past few years, sponsorships for the restoration were given, donations were raised, church tours were carried out and the monastery gardens were tended. The development association carried out a fundraising campaign with sponsorships for stars on the nave ceiling. The new elections for the association, which currently has 240 members, resulted in the following results: Martin Englert is the new chairman, and Stefan Braun-Feldweg is his deputy.

Christina Paul was elected treasurer, Holger Emmrich is the secretary.

Sr. Faustina is a member of the committee for the convent.

The cash auditors are Martin März and Hans Kaiser.

Pastors Herbert Weingärtner, Hans Burger, Carl Langheiter, Josef Mannhart, Josef Paul and Gerald Ohlbaum act as advisors.

No Christmas market this year either

The outgoing board expressed its joy that the consolidation of the monastery was going well, both the building of the convent and the economic affairs. He thanked all members for their loyal support. He referred to the daily mass celebrations in the monastery church, which will become even more important in the future.

Dean Thomas Neuberger from the Dietramszell Parish Association was appointed church rector by the ordinariate.

Pastor Andreas Wanka from the Eichstätt diocese has agreed to take over church services in the monastery for some time with the consent of his bishop.

At the request of the members, another pilgrimage is to be carried out in 2022.

Sr. Benedicta thanked the outgoing chairman Gerald Ohlbaum: "You were a good helmsman and often steered the ship through rough seas," said the nun.

The Christmas market (Reutberger Advent) had to be canceled last year.

Also this year he falls victim to the Corona requirements.
