In Culiacán, Sinaloa, at least 92 people were arrested this weekend for incidents related to the celebrations for Halloween and the Day of the Dead, many of them because of how they dressed up or decorated their vehicles.
The Mexican authorities of this bastion city of the Sinaloa Cartel - where at least four shootings have been registered this year according to media reports - encountered individuals carrying plastic weapons that simulated assault rifles, which is a crime .
Others were arrested for
driving around in cars and trucks with fake bodies on the awning and splattered with artificial blood
, which authorities called an apology for the crime.
Among the detainees, some were disguised as movies such as
Friday the 13th
and the television series
The Squid Game
.
"Let's avoid making use of these devices that can generate fear in the population,"
said Public Security of Sinaloa in a statement via Twitter.
In total,
authorities seized 23 vehicles
that pretended to be stained with blood or had dolls the size of an adult tied to the roof or trunk, wrapped in sheets that appeared to be bloody.
Many of these did not carry the corresponding documents to be able to transit.
Those arrested over the weekend also included people who were drinking on public roads, some carrying toy guns, according to police.
