Fürstenfeldbruck - With a large majority, the city council passed a decision in principle to develop the approximately seven-hectare area.

330 residential units for around 900 residents are planned.

The next step is an urban planning competition, in which the citizens should also be involved.

According to the second mayor, Christian Stangl (Greens), this is “a central, future-oriented project for the city.” It is also intended to counteract the “massive housing shortage in Bruck”.

According to the building authority, the intention is to build a "low-traffic, compact, but airy and sunny as well as ecologically sustainable residential area with a strong social mix".

Public green spaces and social housing

Multi-family houses with three to five storeys and terraced houses in compact construction are planned.

The aim is to ensure that around 30 percent of the total area can be designated as public green spaces.

Some of the apartments are being built as part of publicly funded housing construction in order to be able to guarantee affordable rents.

Cooperative models should also be taken into account.

The housing shortage was "an advanced argument", criticized Hermine Kusch of the project.

The BBV city councilor called for the project to be postponed and instead to build on areas that were already sealed, such as the Grimmplatten-Areal or Am Niederbronner Weg, but could not prevail in the committee.

Wishes of the city councils

SPD parliamentary group leader Philipp Heimerl, for example, thinks the move away from single-family houses to multi-storey development is “a good step towards new urban planning” and Greens spokesman Jan Halbauer reminded that “nurses, police officers and firefighters also need affordable living space”. Heimerl can also imagine "appropriate social facilities for children and senior citizens in such an urban quarter." Willi Dräxler (BBV) advocates greening the facade and Alexa Zierl (ÖDP) calls for "compensation areas not to be created anywhere, but in the area itself." In addition, the environmental officer would like only 30 percent of the total area to be built on and ten percent to be used for traffic development. The remaining 60 percent should be available for public and private green spaces.CSU parliamentary group leader Lohde sees the project as an opportunity to "implement local models in multi-storey buildings."

At least two years of preparation

City councilor Johannes Dachsel emphasizes that this also serves the economic development of Bruck, because companies would not get any skilled workers if they could not find an apartment.

He did not want to commit to a timeline.

Dachsel expects at least two years for the advertising text, urban development competition and framework planning, and another two years until the start of construction work.
