The American newspaper Marines Times revealed that a mysterious disease that targets nerves and muscles called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis annually kills hundreds of military veterans in the United States.
The newspaper pointed out that the disease is diagnosed among 5,000 former US soldiers annually, and it begins with mild paralysis in the limbs and then progresses to muscle paralysis until it reaches the inability to swallow or breathe, and there is no effective treatment for it.
According to US Department of Veterans Affairs data, this disease kills about 1,055 veterans annually in the United States, which means that it has killed 20,895 former US military personnel since the September 2001 attacks and the start of the alleged US war on terrorism.
According to the newspaper's report, the findings show that military service is a presumed cause of ALS in veterans.
