This year the board of directors of Raiffeisenbank Kempten-Oberallgäu eG thanked Quirin, Tizian and Pirmin von der Alpe Laufbichl in Hinterstein on behalf of all petty shepherds.
The Alpe Laufbichl is the largest alp in Germany in terms of area and belongs to an alpine cooperative.
Papa Martin Rinderle is employed there as a cheese maker and processes the milk into high-quality products.
There are 60 dairy cows, 25 pigs and some goats on the alp.
"Flying milk cans"
The oldest of the Rinderle boys, Pirmin, looks after the cattle and does the usual work of a small shepherd. The stable is about a 30-minute walk from Alpe Laufbichl and is on a higher alpine meadow. Pirmin actively supports the alpine woman with milking. A special “spectacle” for the guests are the “flying milk cans”, which are transported by cable car from the alp to the higher stables and back again.
Raiffeisenbank Kempten-Oberallgäu eG received a total of 104 applications.
Young people between the ages of 10 and 16 who helped out for at least four weeks in the summer on an alp in the Raiffeisenbank's business area could apply for the petty shepherd bonus.
