Zeng Xiangxin dissatisfied with the conviction appeal, and the Appeal Tribunal processed his appeal permission today (3rd).
It was said that he and the other two defendants were charged with a joint crime, but he was the only one convicted of murder, and the verdicts were inconsistent.
After hearing the submissions, the judge dismissed his application for leave to appeal, and will issue a judgment to explain the reasons in the future.
Three male defendants: Zeng Xiangxin, Liu Xihao and Zhang Shanheng were all charged with murder. The charge alleges that they murdered the man Zhang Wanli (28 years old) in an industrial unit in DAN6, Tsuen Wan, on March 4, 2016.
However, after trial, only the two defendants were convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. The other two defendants were only convicted of manslaughter, and the two were sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Only Zeng Xiangxin has lodged an appeal.
