The staff carousel is turning again at the sponsoring association for youth and social work (TVJA): Elvira Haunschild and Torsten Benz are new to the team.

Geretsried - Torsten Benz runs the Juice Shop Youth Center during Franziska Walter's maternity and parental leave.

On October 1st, Elvira Haunschild succeeded Lilly Schöffmann as head of the Ein-Stein youth club.

The two introduced themselves at the general meeting of the TVJA in the district meeting in Stein.

Freshly squeezed juices at the bar

"A breath of fresh air" would bring the two new faces into the respective facility, said TVJA managing director Rudi Mühlhans.

Torsten Benz is 32, comes from Darmstadt and switched to social work after training as an IT system electronics technician.

Thanks to the licensed fitness trainer, the name juice shop finally has its justification: Benz introduced a bar with freshly squeezed food.

“Before there was only a guy,” he said.

Now there are smoothies and a “juice of the week”, which can now also be drunk at the inviting bistro tables in front of the main entrance.

The Hessian has already infected the young people with his passion for (healthy) cooking and sport.

Young Music Night was “bitter”

According to him, the Young Music Night in the juice shop with three bands was “bitterly necessary” as part of the cultural autumn.

150 visitors “totally celebrated” to finally party together again.

A trip to the Deutsches Museum in Munich was also well received, where Benz and some young people viewed a graffiti exhibition by the popular street artist Banksy.

The works inspired the girls and boys to embellish the walls in the youth center in the style of Banksy.

The new director reported that there were numerous events and good one-on-one discussions on the annual topic of “taboo”.

As a result of the pandemic, young people have a strong need to talk to a neutral person about certain topics.

Elvira Haunschild has been running Ein-Stein for three weeks.

She studied social work in Benediktbeuern, where she also lives and has recently been married.

Her first impression of the Ein-Stein: “A very colorful house and a colorful team.” She prepared and celebrated a Halloween party with the children and young people.

She also took a lot of time to talk to the young visitors.

In times of pandemics, when there is great uncertainty, youth centers are simply an important point of contact, she said.

The one-stone leader wants to take the kids to the air-hop trampoline park in Munich soon.
