The painting was probably made by the artist Franz Xaver Wilhelm Braunmiller, who was born in Munich in 1905 and died there in 1993.
He was a well-known portrait and church painter.
Numerous Munich personalities have had themselves portrayed by the painter, writes the association in a press release.
The work with the unknown is signed with the year 1930.
One wants to solve the "great mystery of the picture: Who is the woman?"

As a reward for the best information, the association will thank you with vouchers for restaurants, it goes on to say.
The picture can now also be viewed in person: in the Upper Franconian Landscape Museum on the Plassenburg.
