Zhong Hanlin, the convener of the student activity source, was involved in promoting Hong Kong independence on social platforms. He was charged with separatism, conspiracy to publish seditious publications, and money laundering. The prosecution said yesterday that the two sides reached a plea negotiation.
Zhong today (3rd) pleaded guilty to two crimes of secession and money laundering. In his defense on the crime of secession, Zhong said: "I have a clear conscience." That is, Chen Guangchi, a judge designated by the National Security Law, warned against issuing a political declaration.
The prosecution is now reading out the details of the case.
The defendant Zhong Hanlin (19 years old) was charged with one count of conspiracy to publish seditious publications, one count of secession, and two counts of dealing with property known or believed to represent benefits from indictable crimes.
The trial of the case was originally opened yesterday, but the prosecution and the defense reached a plea agreement before the trial, and the case was postponed for a formal defense today.
