Child dies after corona vaccination: autopsy should clarify the connection

Due to the short interval between vaccination and death, an autopsy of the body was ordered. A connection could not be ruled out, it said. As can be seen from the preliminary autopsy protocol, experts from the Forensic Medicine Institute at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf consider it likely that “the death was due to the vaccination,” writes

. Because of the child's previous illnesses, however, “another cause cannot be completely ruled out”. A final result is expected shortly.

The head of the health department in the district of Cuxhaven expressed his deep condolences to the relatives.

"From a purely statistical point of view, serious vaccine side effects resulting in death occur extremely rarely, but the affected family is 100 percent ruthless."

Death after corona vaccination: cases extremely rare

Reported deaths that are related to a corona vaccination are extremely rare in children and adolescents.

According to a safety report from the Paul Ehrlich Institute as the highest vaccine authority, there were 1,809 suspected side effects after a vaccination in children and adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 between the start of the vaccination campaign (December 27, 2020) and September 30, 2021 against the coronavirus.

In five cases there was a fatal outcome between two and 24 days after vaccination.

Three adolescent patients had serious pre-existing illnesses, but in these three cases “the causal relationship with the vaccination could not be assessed” because “the symptoms and the course of the disease were different” and they “had no clinical similarities”.
