The research team from the Clalit Research Institute in Tel Aviv investigated how a third booster vaccination with the Biontech / Pfizer vaccine would affect protection. To do this, they compared the effectiveness of the Comirnaty vaccine of 728,321 triple vaccines with that of the same number of double vaccines who had received their last dose five months earlier. For better comparability, the test subjects were similar in terms of criteria such as age, gender, risk factors or previous illnesses. They were observed for two weeks after application of the booster vaccination.
The scientists found that the protective effect against a severe Covid-19 course was significantly increased after a third vaccination compared to the twice vaccinated.
While 29 people infected with corona had to go to the clinic in the group of those who had been vaccinated three times, there were 231 in the group of those who had been vaccinated twice.

Seventeen of the three-times vaccinated had a severe course of the disease, while 157 of the double-vaccinated.
The death statistics are similar: 44 people from the group of those who had been vaccinated twice died, compared to only seven of those who had been vaccinated three times.
According to the study results, hospital admission was 93 percent more effective, a severe Covid course 92 percent and death 81 percent more effective.
Since the incidence also fell significantly, the researchers also assume that a booster vaccination can effectively contain the infection process.
A study by the Technical University in Haifa also came to this conclusion.
