In Thuringia, the corona situation is getting worse.

Almost all circles are now in the highest warning level.

The Minister of Health can therefore also imagine tightening for a certain group.

Erfurt - Health Minister Heike Werner (Linke) has spoken out in favor of more restrictions for unvaccinated people in view of the worsening corona situation. This is necessary, for example, to prevent the virus from being passed on to vulnerable groups and to protect unprotected people, she said on Thursday on the sidelines of the conference of health ministers in Lindau on Lake Constance. "That's why I think that the restrictions in autumn and winter will now be stronger again."

In Thuringia, the corona situation worsened on Thursday. The seven-day incidence climbed to 357.4 - nationwide that is still the highest value. At the same time, almost all districts slipped into the highest warning level three of the Thuringian early warning system. By the weekend, the remaining municipalities should also move up to the level. Nationwide, 14.2 percent of operable intensive care beds are now occupied by Covid 19 patients.

The worsening situation also made itself felt in the hospitals and nursing homes.

Visits are currently prohibited in several Thuringian clinics.

Also in a number of nursing homes no visitors are currently allowed.

According to data from the state administration office, more than one in five of the 339 old people's homes in the country was affected by corona outbreaks on Thursday.

Homes with an infection rate must prohibit visitors from visiting.

Werner spoke out on Thursday for an expansion of the test requirement for employees in nursing homes. “Currently only the unvaccinated are tested. I think it will have to be expanded so that the unvaccinated are tested daily and the vaccinated maybe once a week to have at least some sort of screening, ”she said. However, they reject compulsory vaccination for nursing staff. "I think that the pressure tends to lead the nursing staff to evade."

Among other things, she hopes that the health ministers' conference will ensure that the funding of the vaccination team will continue to be secured, Werner said. A ministry spokeswoman named April 30, 2022 as the date until which the mobile vaccination teams in the country should continue to be in action. So far, this had been planned until the end of March. The vaccination centers, however, should expire at the end of the year. However, it can always be started up again. A compensation payment for hospitals that postpone operations that can be planned must also be made again, as last winter.

Meanwhile, the ministry is still in an exchange with the Thuringian municipalities regarding the rules in warning level three.

At this stage, the containment decree of the state government provides, among other things, that access to restaurants is only possible for vaccinated, convalescent or PCR-tested people.

Several districts have deviated from the regulations in the last few days and some want to let people with quick tests in pubs and restaurants.

The spokeswoman made it clear again that the state could also oblige the municipalities if necessary.
