The municipality of Rishon Lezion has decided to put an end to the phenomenon of children and youth riding ATVs.

Yesterday (Wednesday) there was a comprehensive enforcement operation by the city police inspectors in the city against the phenomenon, during which one ATV was confiscated and four parents received warning reports.

A 15-year-old girl was driving a confiscated ATV. Her father, who was summoned to the scene, was fined NIS 320.

Recently, there have been many complaints from city residents about the danger of wild driving on ATVs.

Children and teenagers often ride them on sidewalks and in public parks.

Following the complaints, the matter was examined by the municipal police director and the municipality's legal advisers.

The authorities' investigation revealed that there are several municipal bylaws that can be activated to combat the phenomenon, including laws against the entry of a vehicle into a public park, the destruction of vegetation, the destruction of fences and gates, and laws against noise and disorder.

Based on these laws, the municipality initiated the enforcement operation in the Nahalat Yehuda and Neve Hof neighborhoods in the city.

During the operation, the inspectors identified several ATVs that were traveling in a manner that endangered pedestrians.

Mayor Raz Kinstlich said: "In recent years we have witnessed a particularly disturbing phenomenon of motor vehicles, which were mainly located in the area, which passes through the city streets and impairs pedestrian safety, endangers children and significantly impairs the daily routine of city residents. "Riding these tools: It is a dangerous tool. Do not give it a hand and do not endanger your children and road users in the city. We will continue to fight this phenomenon without compromise."
