The Order of Physicians and the six unions representing liberal practitioners have asked senators for "
the removal
" of "
direct access
" to several paramedical professions included in the draft budget of the Social Security for 2022, in a joint letter consulted Thursday November 4 by AFP.

The doctor, because of his training, is the only one able to make a medical diagnosis and take charge of a patient as a whole
", write with the same pen the presidents of the Order and of the six unions (CSMF, MG France, Avenir Spé-Le Bloc, FMF, UFML, SML). This letter, dated Tuesday, was sent to members of the Senate Social Affairs Committee, where the Social Security financing bill for 2022 will be examined from Monday.
Its signatories say they are "
firmly opposed
" to certain measures voted on at first reading in the National Assembly, which provide "
direct access for patients to orthoptists, speech therapists, physiotherapists and nurses in advanced practice
". "
Provisions which, without saying so, derogate from the rules on the illegal practice of medicine,
" they say, adding that the government "
has never brought together on this subject
" representatives of the professions concerned.
The CSMF even denounces in a press release decisions "
taken on the sly, without consultation
" and which "
risk having a disincentive effect by pitting the health professions against each other
".
