Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow and Minsk will work together to confront attempts to interfere in their affairs, as he approved with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko a new military doctrine for the Union state.

During the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Russian Federation and Belarus, according to what was reported by Russia Today, Putin stressed the need to create a secure and stable atmosphere at the borders of the two countries with other countries, and said: "We intend to jointly confront any attempts to interfere in the affairs of our two sovereign countries."

Putin noted the cooperation between Moscow and Minsk, especially in the economic field, noting that it witnessed a positive dynamic even in the conditions of the Corona pandemic, and expressed Russia's readiness to support the initiative to send a Belarusian cosmonaut to the space station in the near future.

For his part, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stressed during the meeting that Moscow and Minsk are gradually working to create common markets for oil and gas.

In turn, Lukashenko indicated that the regional grouping of the forces of the state of the Russian Federation and Belarus represents an impenetrable shield to ensure the security of Russia, Belarus and the entire space of the former Soviet Union, adding: "We do not hide with President Putin our intentions to strengthen these forces in the future."

Lukashenko pointed out that the positions of Minsk and Moscow are identical on almost all contemporary issues, stressing that the project of the union state is still a priority for Belarus.

In addition to updating the military doctrine, Putin and Lukashenko ratified the integration document and 28 alliance programs between Russia and Belarus.

The agreement of the Federation of Russia and Belarus dates back to 1999 and entered into force in January 2000 after its approval by the parliaments of the two countries and the signing of it by Presidents Putin and Lukashenko.

The Federation of Russia and Belarus adopt foreign, security and defense policies, have a common budget, a unified fiscal, credit and tax policy, a unified customs tariff, and unified energy, communications and transportation systems.
