Söder's stricter corona rules: Creeping triage - and the patience of the vaccinated is dwindling

Munich - A traffic light can be life-threatening if it shows green in every direction at the same time.

Unfortunately, this is the case with Bavaria's hospital traffic light *: While intensive care units are already overflowing regionally, it happily signals “Keep it up” across Bavaria.

Rightly so, but the state government is now switching by hand very late.

The tightening of the rules * for unvaccinated people is correct, and so far Bavaria has acted rather cautiously.

Unvaccinated people in intensive care units: fight in the clinics

It's not about harassment and pressure, but about dampening a fight that has long been real in the clinics: When so many deliberately unvaccinated people are in intensive care beds that urgent operations - cancer, stroke, heart risks - are postponed, it is a matter of life and death.

We will never see statistics on how many human lives it costs that no bed is free at the moment.

But if you have to experience this creeping triage up close, you don't need to understand when people who have not been vaccinated complain about the obligation to test before the disco.

Vaccinated people lose patience

Now a somewhat stormier autumn is approaching.

The patient's patience is coming to an end.

As resolute as Söder's * words may sound, politicians have so far avoided more serious steps such as “2G everywhere”.

These lines of conflict must currently be balanced by private life, the landlord, the cinema owner and, increasingly, the employer.

This is probably only an intermediate step, maybe even up to a mandatory vaccination in sensitive industries.
