Threat to a hotel in Cancun: what we know

Staff at the Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun hotel in Mexico told guests to seek shelter, amid reports that armed men entered the hotel.

The hotel is popular with American tourists.

A guest who asked to keep his identity, from Atlanta, a US citizen staying at the Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun, confirmed to CNN that they sought refuge.

The man said hotel security told him they had heard on staff radio that there was a "threat to the hotel" and that guests should "stay in their rooms."

The guest said he heard the police sirens.

The hotel is communicating with them.
