The Knesset plenum today (Friday) approved in second and third reading the Budget Law for 2022. Yesterday morning, the Plenum approved the budget for 2021 and later the Arrangements Law, which includes many reforms promoted by the government. Voting continued until late at night after the coalition earlier lost one of them and sought to re-enact the budget item that fell. The budget approval may now give the Bennett-Lapid government political stability.
Coalition MKs left alone in the plenum cheered and applauded after the budget was approved. Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman addressed the plenum and thanked everyone involved in advancing the budget: "The budget brings stability to the political system and it brings certainty to the Israeli economy."
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett tweeted: "Tonight - we have put Israel back on track." Foreign Minister Yair Lapid also congratulated after the vote on the budget: "We have taken responsibility. We have kept our promise. We passed the 21-22 budget for the State of Israel and the citizens of Israel. "
