The Bavarian round of ministers met on Wednesday for an unscheduled meeting on the subject of Corona.

Some rule changes were decided upon.

An overview.

Munich - The corona situation in Bavaria has worsened massively in the past few days.

Prime Minister Markus Söder, Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (both CSU) and Education Minister Michael Piazolo (Free Voters) pointed this out at a press conference after an unscheduled cabinet meeting on Wednesday, November 3rd.

"16 out of 25 hotspots are in Bavaria," said the head of the region.

And Söder continued: "Corona is back with all its might." In order to prevent, among other things, the hospitals from filling up in an uncontrolled manner and being overloaded, the cabinet has decided to tighten the corona rules.

We give you an overview of what you have to watch out for from Saturday (November 6th).

Corona in Bavaria: The hospital traffic light has been adjusted

The biggest and most far-reaching change was probably made to the hospital traffic lights.

So far, the yellow level has been reached within a week with a hospital occupancy rate of 1200 patients across Bavaria.

The red level applies from 600 intensive care patients.

In order to be able to react better to the rapid increase in the number of patients, the yellow level should now be reached from 450 intensive care patients.

In addition, there is now a so-called hotspot regulation.

This should enable particularly affected districts to react better to increased numbers of infections.

Should an incidence of 300 and an intensive care bed occupancy of more than 80 percent be reached, the hospital traffic light will immediately switch to red.

Corona in Bavaria: What happens at which traffic light level?

But what happens when the respective level is reached? If the Corona traffic light changes to yellow, the FFP2 mask requirement applies again throughout Bavaria. Everywhere where 3G (vaccinated, recovered, tested) has been applied so far, there will be a switch to 3G-plus. So instead of normal rapid tests, a PCR test has to be done. If 3G-plus was valid before that, it will switch to 2G (vaccinated and recovered). This change does not apply to local public transport and retail. If it is red, the 3G rule at the workplace also applies. In addition, 2G will be expanded even more. Even at the highest level, the 3G plus rule applies to catering and body-hugging services. "People have to be able to go to the hairdresser even further," said Prime Minister Söder. Contact restrictions such as those provided for in Baden-Württemberg will not exist in Bavaria.

Corona traffic light

requirements

measures

yellow

1200 patients in the normal ward (within seven days) or 450 patients in the intensive care unit throughout Bavaria

FFP2 mask requirement, 3G becomes 3G-plus, 3G-plus becomes 2G

Red

600 patients across Bavaria in intensive care units or in one region, an incidence of over 300 and an intensive care bed occupancy rate of more than 80 percent

Expansion of the 2G rule, 3G rule in the workplace

According to DIVI (German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine), the intensive care bed occupancy rate on Wednesday (November 3rd) is 488. This means that the prerequisite for switching to the yellow traffic light level is achieved.

If the numbers remain so high on Saturday, the stricter rules would come into force from then on.

Corona in Bavaria: Mask requirement at schools is coming back

Children and adolescents are particularly hard hit by the fourth corona wave. The incidences are particularly high here. Therefore, from next Monday, November 8th, the mask requirement on the square and in the school building will apply again. The mask can be omitted outdoors. The obligation applies to one week for primary schools and two weeks for secondary schools. Pupils in elementary schools are still allowed to use everyday masks, the older ones have to use medical masks. In the event of an infection, all classmates must be tested every day for a week.

In order to get the corona pandemic under control, Söder once again strongly promoted vaccination.

The steep dynamics of the infection process are already clearly evident in the hospital occupancy, with corresponding consequences: "We definitely do not want other operations that are urgently needed to have to be canceled because of Corona," emphasized Söder.

Doctors have also warned of difficult situations, for example if a vaccinated cancer patient could not be operated on because his bed was occupied by an unvaccinated corona patient.
