PCR tests almost exclusively performed by general practitioners: "That pushes us to the limits of our capacity"

Anyone who wants a PCR test in the Miesbach district can almost only get it from their family doctor.

This brings the practices, which are already busy with infectious diseases, to their capacity limits.

Meanwhile, the number of patients in the hospital is also increasing.

District - He has never experienced a rush like this week in his Miesbach family doctor practice, says Dr.

Florian Meier: "Infection patients and tests - it's madness." Meier, also the district's medical pandemic coordinator, fears: The tightened corona rules that the cabinet decided the day before yesterday could soon mean more work.

Because the PCR tests, which the 3G-Plus rule will require of unvaccinated persons from tomorrow for access to restaurants, hotels and body-friendly services, are almost exclusively given to people in the district by their family doctor.

"That brings us to the limits of our capacity."

According to Meier, the main reason for the limited supply is that PCR tests are evaluated in laboratories.

Almost only medical practices are connected to these.

Most pharmacies could hardly do this.

Currently, only the Marienapotheke in Holzkirchen offers PCR tests in the district.

The district could provide the evaluation.

However, he is not allowed to offer chargeable tests.

Meier: "The primary contact remains the family doctor."

That could lead to times of particularly high demand, says Meier: If you want to eat out on Saturday or Sunday, you have to be tested on Friday.

Then a particularly large number of people are likely to crowd into the waiting rooms of the practices.

Dinner on Sundays remains out of reach for the unvaccinated: Even tests from Friday afternoons are then older than the permitted 48 hours.

Commercial PCR test centers such as those in Munich, which are usually also open on Saturdays, could help in these cases.

Meier does not believe that similar centers will be established in the district: “The demand is too low for that.” So if you absolutely need a valid PCR test on Sunday evening, you have to drive a long way.

The situation is different with the rapid tests required from Saturday for almost all workplaces.

These are available in sufficient quantities, says Meier.

Most companies would have procured them anyway.

He does not fear bottlenecks.

regulation

As is so often the case in this pandemic: the state government announces innovations, and the district offices, which are responsible for implementation, are waiting for written documents.

So now too.

From tomorrow, Saturday, the new infection control measures regulation will apply, which provides for immediate changes, especially for heavily affected districts - such as the 2G rule in discos and clubs (we reported).

The district office should actually announce the particular situation, but cannot do so without knowing the wording of the ordinance.

Presumably, so the authority announced, the Ministry of Health will take care of the announcement itself.

So everyone has to be prepared for the fact that in some places 2G instead of 3G plus applies.

More corona checks in the Miesbach district: the police should help - difficulties due to staff shortages

The district of Erding - with an incidence not even half as high as Miesbach - already enforced this on Thursday by general decree.

The local district administration does not consider this route to be expedient.

You have always coordinated with the other heavily affected regions.

"From our point of view, only a joint and uniform, cross-district approach is effective," it says.

hospital

The situation at Agatharied Hospital remains tense. The number of Covid patients has increased again - from 30 on Tuesday to 34 across all stations yesterday at noon. As the clinic reports on request, 25 of them are in normal wards, including three patients in gynecology and one child in the children's ward. There, too, the patients must be isolated and the nursing staff must treat them with full protective equipment.

The situation is dynamic and more complicated than the bare numbers suggest.

It can be the case that a patient has to be treated individually in the intensive care unit.

Since there are only two-bed units there, the actually free bed cannot be occupied.

Free spaces on the Corona wards cannot be sensibly quantified either, because ultimately there are no unused capacities, including, above all, the staff.

It's a constant juggling, the numbers can change several times a day.
