"After the meeting with the Turkish president, Biden made the decision because he claims that Erdogan is undermining democracy in his country."

After a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Biden decided today (Friday) not to invite Turkey to the first democracy conference he heads, Politico magazine reported.

Erdogan had hoped that the meeting with his American counterpart Joe Biden on the sidelines of the G-20 conference would calm the spirits between the parties, following Erdogan's grave mistake in declaring his intention to declare the ten ambassadors a "persona non grata" and repeat it, but they did not. the way things look.

According to the report, the move is taken against Ankara and against other countries that run a democratic system, but their leaders have been harming the democratic systems for many years.

The first of two conferences will take place between December 10-9, and only two countries from the Middle East and North Africa have been invited - Israel and Iraq.

At the same time, other Washington strategic partners were invited, such as Pakistan and 17 African countries.

A major decision that is against the Israeli interest is Washington's decision to invite Armenia, and on the other hand not to include Azerbaijan in the conference.

The conference will be attended by representatives of governments, social activists and senior figures in the private sector on strengthening democracy.

At the same time, an event is emerging in Ankara that could exacerbate Erdogan's embarrassment.

The Jumhoreyit newspaper reported this morning that Finance Minister Lutfi Alban, who took office on November 10, 2020, has submitted a letter of resignation.

"The reasons for submitting the letter of resignation are the rise in the exchange rate, the erosion of the Turkish lira and the difficulties in general in the Ministry of Finance," Jumhouright reported, "but Erdogan did not receive the letter of resignation."

According to the report, if Erdogan eventually decides to accept Alban's resignation - the one who is expected to replace him is none other than his predecessor in office, a man considered the worst finance minister in the history of Ankara - Erdogan's son-in-law, Brat Albirak.

Jumhurayit also claims that thanks to Albeirak's ties with senior officials in the Turkish economic system - he is making it difficult for the reforms that Alban wants to take.

"Turkey's non-invitation to the conference in Washington is a direct result of Ankara's foreign policy in general and Erdogan's statement against the ten senior foreign ambassadors in particular," Dr. Chai Eitan Cohen Inrojek, a modern Turkish researcher at the Jerusalem Institute of Strategy, told Israel Today. And for security and at the Moshe Dayan Center at Tel Aviv University.

"Beyond that, Ankara's insistence on not releasing political prisoner Osman Kabala is seen as an ongoing stain on Turkish democracy, the right to expression and the right to demonstrate in Turkey."

Dr Cohen Inrojek adds that “if and when the reports are true, then Erdogan has succumbed to family pressures - thus paving the way for his son-in-law Albayrak to return to the Ministry of Finance.

This is despite his clear failure in his previous tenure as finance minister. "
