The seven-day incidence in the county is relatively low - and is falling, although the number of cases increases dramatically every day.

The Tölzer Health Department explains why this is so.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - The seven-day incidence fell again on Friday in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district - even though the number of infections in the district is increasing drastically every day.

District Administrator Josef Niedermaier said on Thursday that the incidence was not correct.

Realistically, it is well over 300 and not 131, as stated by the RKI.

The problem is the delay in reporting

But how does the discrepancy between the numbers in the health department and those at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) come about?

"The problem is the delay in reporting," as Dorothea Jörg, deputy head of the health department, explains.

Laboratories send the positive results to the health department via a software system.

This reports the cases via another system to the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL), which in turn reports the number to the RKI.

So far, only processed cases have been forwarded by the health department

So far, you have only forwarded the cases to the LGL that the employees of the health department have already processed, says Jörg. That is, the infected person was called, asked about symptoms and sent into isolation. “We then also knew who was in the hospital.” The problem: Currently, there are so many new positive results every day that the office cannot keep up with the processing of the cases. This means that it sometimes takes a few days before the findings are actually reported to the LGL. There, however, it is not the reporting date by the health department that counts, but the date on which the positive test result was determined. “That means there are a number of cases that no longer play a role in the seven-day incidence,” says Jörg.

Health department changes the reporting system - significant increase expected for Saturday

They have now spoken to the LGL, "and we are now following the approach of most of the other districts," announced Jörg.

This means that all positive results are immediately forwarded 1: 1 to the LGL - regardless of whether there has already been contact with the infected person or not.

On Friday, the mountain of unprocessed cases from the past few days was also processed.

The seven-day incidence should therefore already make a significant jump up this Saturday.
