At about 2 pm today (5th), a fresh water pipe burst on Peak Road on Hong Kong Island near Kam Road. A large amount of fresh water gushed out, causing a landslide on a slope with a range of 30 meters by 100 meters.
Affected by the incident, officers blocked the 3-meter by 100-meter road on Peak Road. The Water Supplies Department also sent personnel to the scene to follow up.
No one was injured in the incident.
According to the Transport Department, due to a water main burst, Peak Road near Kam Road was once implemented a one-lane two-way traffic measure, and the entire line was lifted at 8:30 pm. However, motorists along Kam Road could only turn left into Peak Road for the time being.
The Water Supplies Department stated that the potable water pipe involved was 250 mm in diameter. It is currently implementing emergency water cuts and emergency maintenance of the water pipes. The water supply is expected to resume at 11:10 tonight.
There are videos on the Internet that witnessed landslides. It can be seen that there is continuous water gushing out of the retaining wall of the slope, and the channel of the retaining wall is unbelievably loaded, and began to collapse. The yellow soil under the hillside and the pillars at the bottom of the road are exposed.
Witnesses screamed, "dead fire".
