Oscar Frischer is expected to be among the oldest participants in the traditional Tel Aviv Municipality race • "Wants to convey a message that must not be given up"

The 80-year-old Oscar Frischer does not let age stop him, and this coming Wednesday he plans to participate in the "Night Race" of Tel Aviv, and is expected to be one of the older participants in the race.

The Tel Aviv Neviot night race, which did not take place last year due to the corona, passes through the main points in the city and will end in Ganei Yehoshua Park with a party for all participants.

It is ten kilometers long.

Frischer is a retired resident of Tel Aviv, living in sheltered housing in Ahuzat Tzahala.

Frischer, who served as an architect and city builder, director of the planning department of housing and development of areas, is accustomed to long-term aspirations and directs himself to the goal in an optimal way.

Since retiring he started doing walks and moved on to running.

Since then he has run, in the country and around the world, except during the Corona period, in which he also maintained a routine of physical fitness.

He runs twice a week for about five kilometers, and on Saturdays he runs 8-12 km.

"Since I'm 80 years old, I run at my own pace," he says with a smile.

"I run because it gives me energy and motivation for more things. I run about 12 races a year. In 2019 I ran 18 races. Since the Corona I have lost a bit of fitness. I'm working on getting back to what I was before, but it's not easy. I want to get the message across. That anyone can do anything and at any age. I would like to encourage especially those who say that it is not possible. Age is not a barrier. The year

I turned 80. We have a beautiful country, and I feel it through my feet, too. "

Start-up: Wednesday evening

Ahead of the race, Tel Aviv-Yafo Mayor Ron Huldai referred to its existence this year and said: "I am happy to invite you to the traditional night race of Tel Aviv-Yafo, and I am especially happy that life is back on track."

The night race of Neviot Tel Aviv, initiated and produced by the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and the Sports Authority of the Municipality through the "Kafim" company, will take place this coming Wednesday.
