The Hong Kong Customs inspected two air parcels and a batch of air cargo at the Hong Kong International Airport on October 11 and November 1, and seized a total of about 1 kg of suspected ketamine and 10.5 kg of suspected methamphetamine. The estimated market value was about 8.2 million yuan. Three men and women aged between 34 and 43 were arrested yesterday (5th).

On October 11, the maritime affairs department inspected an air parcel that arrived in Hong Kong from Pakistan and reported that it contained clothing. It was found that about 1 kilogram of suspected ketamine was stored in two packets of salt, and then two pieces arrived in Hong Kong from Thailand on November 1. It was reported that the air parcel carrying toys contained about 4 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine contained in two toy vehicles.

Follow-up investigation by the Customs found that the consignee and address of the two cases were the same. It is suspected that the two cases are connected. A 43-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were arrested in Tsuen Wan yesterday.

The suspected ketamine and methamphetamine seized in the case are estimated to have a market value of about 3.6 million yuan.

In addition, the maritime affairs department inspected an air cargo from South Africa that was reported to contain ink rollers on November 1. It was found that about 6.5 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine was stored in the rollers.

After following up the investigation, Customs arrested a 34-year-old man in Tsim Sha Tsui yesterday and seized about one gram of suspected cannabis on his body. The total estimated market value is about 4.6 million yuan.

Two cases are still under investigation.

The Customs urges the public to be vigilant and refrain from participating in drug trafficking activities for money gains, refrain from accepting any person's employment or entrustment to transport controlled goods in and out of Hong Kong, and refrain from rashly assisting others in transporting goods without determining the properties of the goods.

In addition, the public should also avoid passing personal information or addresses to others for the purpose of receiving parcels or goods.

According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in dangerous drugs is a serious crime. Once convicted, the maximum penalty is a fine of 5 million yuan and life imprisonment.
