An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit North Sulawesi, central Indonesia, today, without warnings of a possible tsunami.
Xinhua quoted Indonesia's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency as saying that the quake was at a depth of 20 km under the seabed, with its epicenter 71 km southeast of Bulang Mungondo district.
An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit the eastern Indonesian province of Maluku on the second of this month.
It is noteworthy that Indonesia is often prone to earthquakes because it is located in a region called the Pacific Ring of Fire, where earthquakes and tremors are frequent.
