The bathing park in Bad Wiessee, which has been closed since spring 2020, was the topic of the latest meeting of the municipal council in the neighboring municipality of Rottach-Egern.
Council member Josef Kaiser asked about the current status of the new building of the urgently needed swimming facility.
During the meeting, Josef Kaiser expressed doubts about the construction schedule in the neighboring community and asked Mayor Christian Köck to ask his colleague about the current status.
"I advocate that we build the indoor swimming pool together, because it is important for the valley," he explained and suggested setting up a special purpose association or something similar.
Currently there is only one deficit agreement, according to which all valley communities contribute financially to the operation of the swimming pool.
Problems with swimming lessons
The mayor admitted that the bathing park was a loss and that problems had arisen in terms of swimming lessons and the training of the rescue workers, which they had tried over the summer to compensate for in the outdoor pools. But he didn't want to say much more about the affairs of the neighboring community. "It is not up to us to judge it or to hang in there," he said, referring to the local self-government. However, he promised to inquire about the current status.
However, the idea of cooperation was also well received by the committee.
"This is an important project for locals and guests," said Andreas Erlacher (FWG), for example.
“I think that's a good idea if Bad Wiessee wants it, because the bathing park is of central importance for the valley.” You should send out a signal.
Group colleague Gabriele Schultes-Jaskolla also liked the proposal.
“It's a good idea to talk about if Bad Wiessee wants it,” she said.
The plan for a new bathing park is in place
It is planned that the new bathing park can be opened in about five years.
Bad Wiessee's Mayor Robert Kühn explains that this schedule is still being adhered to, even if it is currently a little behind.
Such an extensive project, however, takes time to prepare.
He is fundamentally pleased about the offer that all valley communities join forces for the new building.
However: "We are already too far in planning to change that now." At the current point in time, the merger would be detrimental to the funding that Bad Wiessee needs for the new building.
But: "When the new bathing park is built, we will be able to offer secure swimming lessons again for decades," the mayor asks for patience.
