Peißenberg - This has never happened before: After the team victory in the South Bavarian ADAC championship, the BMX team Peißenberg was now able to secure the team victory in the Bayernliga overall standings.

At the beginning of October, the entire team was at the top of the podium at the South Bavarian ADAC Championship and received the trophy for the team victory.

Now the sixth and last run of the BMX Bayernliga racing series took place in Kolbermoor near Rosenheim and here, too, it was teeming with Peißenberg racers.

Because of the Corona restrictions, the start of this year's BMX Bayern League was a bit sluggish in the spring, so that the entire racing series was shorter than in previous years.

However, significantly more starters were registered in all races this year;

in Kolbermoor there were a total of 237 drivers.

The increasing number of active participants was also noticeable among the Peißenbergers last year.

The club was able to win many new members in all age groups, all of whom contributed to the positive result in the team ranking.

Because not only did the Peißenbergers attract attention in terms of quantity, the team was also able to convince in terms of sport.

Bichlmeyr in top shape

Benedikt Bichlmeyr was at the forefront this season.

He dominated all races of the season in Bavaria in his Boys 13/14 class and only had to admit defeat twice after a fall.

With that he secured the overall victory in the Bayernliga racing series.

In addition, he was able to prove his top form on an international level.

A few weeks ago the 3 Nations Cup took place near Kassel, where the best athletes from Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium competed against each other.

Here Bichlmeyr won all preliminary heats as well as his eighth and semi-finals in his age group.

In the final he only had to admit defeat to a driver from Belgium.

The eight-year-old Jonas Hellmer also had a great season.

In his boys 5-8 class, the competition couldn't keep up with him, and he was at the top of the podium in each of the races.

He also secured overall victory in the Bayern League.

In addition, he competed in the Deutschland Cup (German championship for young drivers) in Stuttgart in June and also demonstrated his skills here.

After flawless preliminary runs, he went into the final as the favorite and secured first place at the Germany Cup in 2021.

"With this strong team we will certainly draw attention to us next year," said the team of coaches around Gerhard Lengger happily, "but now it's time for winter training to start the new season fit and relaxed."
