Indictments were filed today (Saturday) against Azerbaijani and Lebanese citizens, Orken Asdov, and four other foreign citizens from Pakistan for plotting to assassinate Israeli citizens in Cyprus, apparently with Iranian guidance and financial assistance, the country's media revealed.
According to the indictment, the five hid at least three pistols and silencers at various sites across Cyprus.
In addition, the indictment states that they held in the bank targets of five Israeli citizens.
It was further reported that the Azeri citizen said in his interrogation that he received $ 40,000 during a visit to Lebanon, and the media in Cyprus estimated that the source of the funds is Iran.
Asdov has even traveled to Iran in recent years and claimed that the purpose of the trip was to accompany his parents on a religious pilgrimage to Shiite sites.
The trial of foreign nationals in Cyprus is expected to begin in December.
It was previously reported in the Israeli media that the Iranian Quds Force was behind the assassination plot, and it was even claimed that one of the targets of the attack was supposed to be Israeli businessman Teddy Sagi.
