At least eight people were crushed to death and many were injured during the opening night of the Astroworld music festival today (Saturday morning, Israel time) in Houston, Texas.
According to data published in the media, 17 were injured and 11 of them suffered a cardiac arrest.
In addition, more than 300 were treated at a field hospital established at the site.
The incident occurred during a performance by rapper Travis Scott, during which the audience began to squeeze towards the front of the stage.
According to the Houston Fire Chief, "The crowd's crowding near the stage caused some panic, and it started to cause injuries. There were dozens injured. People started falling, became unconscious and it created another panic."
An audience of 50,000 people came to the festival, which was supposed to last two days.
In view of the tragic circumstances, the second day was canceled.
