Fashion design courses implemented by the Youth Empowerment Center in Damascus attract young men and women who want to work in this field, develop their tools, and switch to computer design, driven also by the promises of job opportunities offered by the course organizers in partnership with the private sector.

The courses implemented by the Center of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program aim to prepare a trainee capable of fashion design, implementation, modeling of production processes, keeping pace with market demands and increasing productivity in public and private ready-made garment factories.

Minister of Industry Ziad Sabbagh said in a statement to SANA that these courses contribute to providing the labor market with qualified cadres to develop production in the public and private sectors, pointing out the importance of supporting and encouraging graduates and students and benefiting from the experiences of the private sector in developing and modernizing models produced in public sector companies.

Regarding the latest courses that were concluded today, the Director of the Labor Market Observatory at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Hala Al-Masry, told SANA that she graduated 22 male and female trainees, including students and graduates of the Institute of Textile Industries of the Ministry of Industry, graduates of textile engineering and the College of Fine Arts, and a number of those wishing to work in the field of fashion design. Students graduate projects to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the training.

Al-Masry pointed out that the course, which was implemented in cooperation with 4 companies from the private sector, will employ distinguished trainees, while the data of the rest of the students will be sent to laboratories and other companies in the governorates to help them employ them.

In turn, the Director of the Labor Market Program at the United Nations Development Program, Hassan Falaha, explained that the Youth Empowerment Center in Damascus is the result of joint cooperation with the Ministry of Affairs, and it is among 8 centers distributed over the governorates.

Among the trainers, the engineer Maysam Al-Ahmar, a trainer on fashion design programs on the computer, stated that the steps of training students started from drawing to drawing templates, in addition to using modern programs in parallel with field visits to private laboratories, indicating that there is a plan to train the entire cadres of public companies on design programs to raise productivity. And kind to keep pace with market requirements.

Among the graduates, Maya Shakhashiro and Lamis Abdel Aziz explained that the course helped them transfer work from manual to computer, which saves a lot of materials and fabrics, in addition to time and effort, and helps in discovering designs flaws before they are fully produced.
